“If” – a poem by Rudyard Kipling and successful investing

The movie Jungle Book is releasing on this Friday. We thought of remembering another great work by the author of the story.

Rudyard Kipling wrote the Jungle Book as well as a beautiful poem that goes by a very short title – “If”.

The  poem starts with “If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs and blaming it on you …”. It ends with the line “… Yours is the earth and everything that’s in it, and – which is more – you’ll be a man, my son!”

Read it if you have not. Read it again and again, if you have. It lists qualities required for success – be it in life or in investing.

If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs …

Equanimity is a big virtue, but a rare one.
